The Brief:After scooping the prestigious ‘Boutique Retailer of the Year’ award at the UK Jewellery Awards and then coming top of Retail Jeweller’s Top 50 Inspiring Independents, EC One asked us to redesign and replatform their eCommerce website using WordPress for the ‘brochure’ style pages and Magento for the product catalogue pages.
Project Notes:The new look website had to feature stunning campaign creative of all the latest pieces by famous designers including Alex Monroe, Alexis Bittar, Fiona Paxton, Selim Mouzannar and Stephen Webster among others. EC One has unusual depth of stock; collections vary from designer and fashion jewellery through to bridal and fine jewellery, so the information hierarchy had to support easy categorisation and filtering of products. The founders of EC One, Jos and Alison Skeates, are authentic jewellers and can often be found working at the benches of their on-site workshop in Exmouth Market, Clerkenwell. It was important that the new online presence stressed the hand-crafted, custom-made attributes of the product range and the fact that Jos & Alison are always on hand to give the latest style advice, trend reports and personalised gifting services.
The Result:The new site has made a strong start towards challenging the might of the high street fashion jewellers. The beautiful homepage changes frequently to highlight new collections and seasonal groups of products. The navigation is clear, intuitive and comprehensive; customers are always one-click away from their chosen category and then one-click away from purchase. The purchase process is made simple using the Graphic Alliance developed one-click Magento checkout where the user can register or checkout as a guest and the details can be submitted seamlessly on a single page.
